In the past few postings I have been working on my GAME plan for technology. The two goals previously stated are:
GOALS
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity a. promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.
5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership a. participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning.
ACTION
Everyday my lessons have included a special question for students to be innovative thinkers. I have been keeping a digital list for next year.
This summer I will participate in a Promethean Training.
MONITOR
As the warm up for each day I have engaged my students in creative thinking. Collecting and keeping answers on the Promethean Board to reflect, tally, evaluate, and save for future use.
After attending the Promethean training this summer, my intention is to have 5 make and take ideas to grow as a professional with creative applications of technology to improve student learning.
EVALUATE
With only a few days left of the school year, I am collecting teacher editions of my reading and math series to make flipcharts and interactive lessons over the summer for next year.
I will continue to add to the binder of “How To” for the Promethean to help myself and fellow teachers use as a reference.

Kristin, I like the idea of posting a critical thinking question daily so that your students see the goal. In my district, we are to post "I Can" staements so that the students leave the room with the "I Can" for the day. For instance, "I Can" identify the Allied Poers during WWII. STudents should not leave the room without being able to recite who those countries were. It is a nice concept and students have worked to obtain this knowledge on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteKristen, It sounds like you are progressing well on your goals. I like your idea of using special questions with your students everyday. Its a great warm-up as well as helping them develop creative thinking skills. What kind of questions do you post? Do you think that your students are benefiting from this? Have you see an increase the students creative thinking skills since you started doing this?
ReplyDeleteKristin,
ReplyDeleteYou are going to learn so much from that Promethean training. I've been toying with ActivInspire all year long and have really learned a lot about it, but I really do want a professional training course to really show me the ins and outs of ActivInspire. Is your course through Balitmore County or is it a private course?
Kristin,
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of a question of the day. Do you use your Promethean board for that? You could do it on the board and have each student answer on the board as well. Just a thought or maybe you already are doing that! Good luck!
Kristin,
ReplyDeleteAre flipcharts Prometheon documents? I think that your students are going to be far more engaged and motivated during lessons with your use of the Prometheon next fall.
Rachel
Thank you for your comments. Flipcharts are documents that are interactive.
ReplyDeleteYes I use my promethean board for the questions and answers.
Carman,
The course is through BCPS at my school. I am sure HCPS will have something available.
